Featured Song: Henry Street

Welcome. I am a guitarist, songwriter, and singer based in Portland, OR. The Song of the Month features both new and older recordings. My goal is to produce a new recording each month, but that is not always possible. I am also prone to posting new songs and rough works in progress. My archive contains bothlive and studio recordings from various projects, going back to days of horse and buggies, and analog four-track tape machines. I don't always put the Song of the Month in the archive, so if you like it, grab it while you can, though I do sometimes recycle. All of the recordings on the site are avaiable free, in mp3 format. Except where noted, all music and lyrics are by Matt Zekala.

The current featured song is "Henry Street", recorded in 1997 by Gravity. This cut features Tom Kaelin on drums, Greg Koerner on bass, and Billy J. Stein on Keyboards. "Henry Street" was inspired by the immigrant experience, and in particular, the Henry Street Settlement in New York City, which opened in 1893.

This is a picture of my grandmother and me. We share the same birthday.

All songs and artwork copyright 2011 Matt Zekala, unless noted.
